"I enjoy doing Kaajal more than Kahaani" - Rohit Bakshi

Like almost all TV actors he too is recognized by the characters he's essayed on the small screen. Be it Piyush of Kahiin To Hoga, Vishal in Kyunki....or currently as Karan in Kaajjal and Shikhar in Kahaani…..Very few know the real man behind these portrayals - Rohit Bakshi who has been in this industry for many years but is still awaiting to shine in the limelight. In an introspective chat with a reticent and low profile Rohit, Prashant Golecha brings forth a lesser explored side of the actor. Career track so far
Career track so far I used to do print ads in Delhi and came down to Mumbai to try my luck in modeling. I gave a lot of auditions but nothing materialized. I was never interested in doing shows, as I had never faced the camera before. However, even without giving an audition I was zeroed in for Titliyan on Sahara One. It was troublesome to mouth dialogues. Later I went on to do Choodiya, Tanhayiha, Sukanya, Lavynya and Tum Bin Jao Kahan. Balaji approached me for a cameo in Kutumb and I eventually landed up doing Kyunki…. Kahiin Toh Hoga, Kahiin Kissi Roz and Kaisa Yeah Pyar Hai . Right now it's Kaajjal and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii keeping me busy. A death scene specialist For both Kahiin To Hoga and Kyunki I had to perform major death scenes. People still remember me for those shots. Frankly it is not a good feeling to enact those scenes or even recall them. Now I have made it a point to ensure that whenever I take up a project I won't be killed; death scenes when done repeatedly affect me a lot. On not striking gold as a Balaji actor I agree. My weak point are my poor PR skills. I had been laidback and introvert by nature and always believed that my work will speak for itself. But now I have realized PR is quite important career wise. Kahaani or Kaajal? I enjoy Kaajjal more than Kahaani.... In the former there is more scope for performance whereas in the latter my track is very regular. In Kaajjal the ambience of the set is very inspiring to facilitate the negative shades I portray in the show. Relationship with Balaji I share a good rapport with the production house and have been getting steady work from them. With Ekta it's a purely professional relationship. My co-star Saakshi in Kahaani It's a pleasure to work with her, she's very down-to-earth to easy to work with. We have worked together for GEO channel in the past for which we went abroad for the shoot. Friends from the industry Sumit Sachdev is one of my closest friends with whom I am in touch with on a regular basis. Bollywood plans As an actor one needs progression and after television everyone aspires for films. I surely want to do masala films in fact. I don't mind running around trees. I have given a few auditions and have also got a new portfolio done. But I won't quit television for sure. I would like to create a balance. TV keeps the kitchen fire burning as it pays very well. Luck v/s hard work I believe that 90 per cent luck and 10 per cent hard work equals to success. If you are not destined to get something you wont get it, nomatter how much you try for it. The real Rohit Bakshi I am a simple, sensible, pragmatic, hardworking and very determined person. I am an absolute introvert and very short tempered. I do have a sense of humour and am very optimistic by nature. I'm the only son of my parents, my father's a businessman and my mom passed away in 2004.
