I have changed my baby's diaper: Vivek Oberoi

Seems this ongoing period is unique for Vivek Oberoi. Not only did his two starrers Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story and Zila Ghaziabad release, but the star also made his television debut with Zee TV’s India’s Best Dramebaaz. Probably, the timing is best for this actor as he recently became a proud father. In the first episode of the show that aired on 23 February 2013, Vivek was seen at his best. In response to the same, we at Tellychakkar.com got in touch with Vivek to know about his debut as a television judge and on being a father. Read on…

Read on… How did your wife react when she learnt about you judging a kids’ show? (smiles) She was more excited than I am. She said I want you to understand kids as, by doing this, you will become a good father and will be able to connect with today’s kids in a proper manner. In fact, even on the show I keep chatting with kids and have a sweet interaction with the tiny tots. Do you follow any particular parameter of judging? (pauses) Look, our process of judging is different, like we judge a 10 year old kid differently from a five year old as we do not expect him/her to act like a ten year old. But, there are no written parameters; we just have them in our hearts. How were you as a kid? (blushes) I was good at studies and was also very mischievous. In fact ,one day my parents sat down to relate my childhood stories to my wife. After hearing, she said that if our kids turn out to be like their father, we’d be dead (laughs). What was the feeling of turning a father? When I became a dad, the first thing I did was I called my dad and asked him to give me his blessings so, that I manage to do at least fifty per cent of what he has done for me. As a matter of fact, he has been a very important pillar for me in my life. Till now, I have done just 30 films, but he has done 350 films. Though my dad used to be busy in work, but in spite of being tied up, he used to take us on a family vacation every second weekend. We used to go to places like Goa, Khandala, Lonavla and even distant destination like Spain. To me they were the best weekends. I think I have a lot to learn from Dad. Are you a hands-on father? Yes, very much. I was there to receive my baby and I cut the umbilical cord. I have also changed his diaper and fed him milk from a bottle. In fact, I did not sleep for three nights as my wife, who had a long labour was resting. Though the nurses were there to look after the baby, I just couldn’t sleep. I used to get alert even when he (baby) used to get hiccups. How has 2013 been for you? It’s amazing, Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story and Zila Ghaziabad just released while Krrish 3 will follow later. Moreover, I’ve also made a television debut this year.
