I was offered Swayamvar but I refused to do it : Mika Singh

Mr ‘I-me-myself’ Mika Singh, yeah the same guy, whose middle name could well be Mr Controversy, will soon be seen on Star Plus’ Music Ka Maha Muqabla. He was last seen strutting his stuff around in the Malaysian jungles in Sony’s Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. He says in his famous drawl, “Jungle se nikal ke main insanon ki duniya mein aaya hoon. Music Ka Maha Muqabla is all about established singers, who have created their space in the industry, so it would be great to compete with them.” Mika always wanted to judge a music show but was waiting for the right fit. “I wanted to be part of a show which would have talented singers and performers; because I feel it’s necessary for a singer to perform as well. I am a good dancer and I will teach my team mates too, it is essential for live performances and stage shows. The audience gets bored to see someone just standing on stage and singing. There are very few good performer-singers.” The singer admits of enjoying stage shows more than recordings. About the only female singer on the judges' panel (he is joined by Shankar Mahadevan, Himesh Reshammiya, Shaan, Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal), he says, “We are paanch Pandav and she is Draupadi, though jokes apart she is very talented.” Mika claims the concept of the show to be very hatke. He explains, “Captains will compete with each other if the need arises to save the team from losing.” Daler Mehndi's kid brother says he prefers doing one show a year and something different. “If I do Bigg Boss tomorrow then you will ask me why am I doing it but fact is that I will do it. I was offered Swayamwar but I refused to do it as I want to try something new.” Controversies never fail to chase Mika. He says, “I purposely do not do anything and so far, only one controversy has taken place that too three years ago (when Rakhi Sawant had alleged that he had forcibly kissed her) and people are still discussing it.” Coming back to the Star show, he considers everyone competition as “all of us are poles apart from each other and have our own charm.” Well, for once, Mika is not blowing his own mike!
