Most men are taken while rest are younger than me: Meghna Malik

Meghna Malik

Whenever we think about talented actress Meghna Malik, the first thing that flashes in our minds is her powerful stint on Na Aana Is Des Laado as Ammaji.

The actress was last seen in Star Plus’ Dahleez and yet again the lady has managed to make space in viewers’ hearts with her flawless performance.

Tellychakkar.com got chatty with Meghna where she spoke about Dahleez’s wrap up, being single, future plans and more.

Firstly, tell us what is keeping you busy these days?

Well, I am doing theatre for the first time and that too with Satish Kaushik. It is a classic and funny play called Mr & Mrs. Murarilal. It’s meaningful and entertaining.

Why do think Dahleez didn’t connect with viewers that well?

I keep getting messages urging us to bring Dahleez back. The show was always meant to be of 108 episodes. It was a finite series that’s finished its run.

So are you open to doing more of finite series now?

I don’t restrict myself to any format. Whether it is a daily or finite, I give importance to the character and storyline. Television has limited powerful roles to play. But I think finite series are better than dailies as the content stays intact. The focus is more on the subject and it doesn’t go off the track.

What matters to you more- A good script or money?

Both are equally essential. But if the story is good, you might have to let go of the money part.

With the current trends of Naagin and supernatural drama, can we see you being a part of such shows?

I still love Sridevi’s role as Naagin. If I get something like that… then why not? People are watching and it’s selling. Though I haven’t watched any of these, it’s garnering TRPs. TV is a popular medium and everyone is making money. However, as a lay person, I pray and wish that we raise our standards. People were bored of watching the same thing and when you provide them something different, it is going to work. This is also a phase that will end someday.

When do you plan to settle down?

I still haven’t met the right person. Most men are taken, while the rest are younger than me. The day I meet someone special I will get married. Nevertheless, work has always been my first priority.

Any regrets?

No regrets. I am very grateful to God. I entered the industry at the age of 29 when usually actors get retired. Audience and TV fraternity have been kind to me. Today, I am confident and financially stable…all because of my parents’ blessings.

How do you unwind yourself?

I love my life between action and cut. If I am not shooting, I go out on a holiday with my parents.

Keep up the good work, Meghna!
