It was just a few months ago when Manoje Biddvai was unceremoniously replaced in Balaji's Kyunki Saas bhi Kabhi bahu thi by Vikas Sethi. But now the actor is bouncing back. He's currently been seen as the ambitious business baron Nikhil Mittal in Star's Meri Awaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni along with a film titled Rivaaz. Here he speaks about his life and career in a casual chat with Prashant Golecha. Excerpts. First and foremost do you miss being a part of Kyunki? I do miss playing Abhir in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi, as it was a fantastic role and Balaji is a very good production house. Is all well between you and Balaji now? From my side everything is fine. I was invited for Ektaa's birthday party and I attended it also. If Balaji offers me a good role I will surely do it. How did you bag the role in Meri Awaz Ko…? I knew the assistant director. I was called for the auditions and I got the role. This is the first time you're playing essaying a negative role. Yes, I am quite enjoying this full-fledged negative lead. Nikhil Mittal's role is helping me understand newer aspects of my own personality. You are sporting a different look. Whose idea was it? It was my idea to wear contact lenses and wear particular designs. My ideas were accepted by the channel and the production house as it is helping the character look authentic. How's your wife Ravee doing and how's married life? I am happier post wedding. It has been seven months since we got married. My wife Ravee makes me feel complete. I recommend marriage strongly to everyone. When will we see both of you together in a serial? I will surely accept it as it would give us more time to spend with each other. You are also aiming for a career in bollywood. Comment. I am just about to finish a film called Rivaaz. It is based on a true story which happened in a village in Madhya Pradesh. I am playing a city man. The film has gone in New York film festival and we are looking at a October release. I have also done a hinglish film called The Other side which is a story of 17 year old boy who wants to find his identity. I am playing Siddhant who's a gay character with human emotions. How did acting happen? I took active part in dramatics in school as well as college and then started ramp modeling. Later, the acting bug bit me after modeling. I began my career with Balaji's Kahiin Kissi Roz wherein I played Moulli Ganguly's brother in-law followed by Kutumb, Kuuch Jhuki Palke and Kassauti. Would you quit television if you get more Bollywood offers? I would strike a balance. Television or films both are big and have their audiences'. Acting is acting irrespective of the medium. Any passions other than acting … I am a movie buff and I also love music. I do play Squash and table tennis once in a while. What's the real Manoje Biddvai in real life like? I am fun loving, extrovert and a very emotional person. Also, I take life as it comes.
