Shilpa is a wonderful actress: Shubhangi Atre

Shubhangi Atre

After a break, television's most popular Bhabhiji is back on TV. Post Shilpa Shinde’s abrupt exit from her show last month, which made headlines, Shubhangi Atre was chosen as her replacement.

The actress, who is currently working hard on the Bhojpuri accent aka the trademarks of the character, told us about the pressure of replacement, the show, Shilpa Shinde and more...

Excerpts

Have you ever watched Bhabhiji before being a part of it?

Yes! And I loved the show. As after a very long time there was a concept on TV that was natural and had good humour. My daughter loves this show too. She was happy when she got to know that I have bagged the show.

You have replaced Shilpa again. Are you her permanent replacement?

No, I don’t think so. I am an artist and I am always ready to do shows that I am being offered. I think it is a coincident.

But when Shilpa was asked about it she said that you were permanent replacement, so what do you think?

I would take it as a compliment.

Is there any pressure because Shilpa has made her mark as Angoori?

No, there's is no pressure as the team of actors and writers are excellent. I was definitely nervous but the team supported me a lot.

Are you scared?

If I get scared, it will be seen on my face and audience will come to know about it. I don’t want that so I am not scared.

Will you copy Shilpa or bring your own flavour?

I feel it’s always the character and show that gets popular and not the actor. I will definitely bring in my own flavour in the character. If I copy her, everybody will accuse me of copying her and if I do that than they would say I am not perfect for the role. I will be Angoori and not Shilpa.

How is your equation with the other co-stars?

We do a lot of fun on the sets. I feel blessed to work with such great actors.

What is your take on Shilpa’s action?

I cannot comment on that matter.

How is Shilpa as an actress?

She is a wonderful actress. I have seen her work so I can say she is a good.

After replacement, an actor is always compared to the other so are you ready for the comparison?

I understand that it is difficult to accept a person whenever there is a replacement. I am trying my best and working hard. I would just say that give me a chance.

You have been part of &TV’s show earlier. Is that the reason for your selection?

Yes, it could be, but I don’t know. I am happy to be a part of this show as it's my favourite.

You were supposed to do Nagarjuna so what happened to the show?

I was offered but it did not work out as I was not keen on playing a mother onscreen.

All the best, lady!
