TV was my stepping stone in the industry - Kunickaa Sadanand

Kunickaa Sadanand
You may work with your co-stars for long hours but you are never able to get to know them up front closely. And this is what I experienced when I became the Guest Editor at Tellychakkar.com for a day. In a quest to outshine my job as a journalist I called up senior actor and a wonderful person Kunickaa Sadanand who joined our team at Pyaar Ka Dard Hai… Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara recently. It was not only an amazing time as a journalist doing an interview but I also got to know a lot more about her. Here is an excerpt from our conversation. You joined the show quite recently, so how has your experience being working with us? Having worked for so many years, it surely felt good coming on board in this wonderful show. I feel privileged of getting to work with such talented actors. This official comeback surely has been a wonderful experience. So what all changes do you see in them? As I mentioned the actors are so talented although they are very young. For the last few months I have also grown as an actor interacting with you all. Also everyone is so well behaved with no tantrums; it’s a pleasure working with everyone. I have been in the industry for 27 years and have worked in multi cast project; I think it’s the culture of Rajshri productions that binds everyone together. Nobody wants to outdo others or put one down; we all work as a team. And what about changes in the industry? Lot of changes! The mindset of people has changed a lot but what still remains are that respect holds the highest importance in this field. Respect for seniority and women in the team always hold significance in my eyes. Having being a known face in movies, how come you decided to move to TV? Well, not many would know that I started my career with a TV show Kashmakash. Things then changed and I moved to films but TV was my stepping stone in the industry. Do you think TV is different from what it used to be? Completely, earlier we used to work with a bound script and do around 100 pages script in one shot. Also around five cameras were used together to get some beautiful shots. Today things have got a bit disorganized but TV has become a huge medium with an amazing reach. I have done around 30 films but the popularity I got from TV is much more compared to the overall fame from them. And finally share any one memory of yours in PKDH that you will cherish forever? I think my 50th birthday that you all celebrated in Australia will always be close to my heart. Even though I was away from my family, I did not miss them for my on screen family was so close to me (smiles).
