In a chat with Tellychakkar.com, Kinshuk Mahajan, who was last seen as Pintoo Singh in Afsar Bitiya on Zee TV, talks about how necessary it is to make investments. How important is money to you? For me, money is a basic necessity in life. Everyone needs money for survival. Apart for that, I feel that relationships are more valuable than money. Are you an impulsive buyer? I was before marriage when I used to spend recklessly; but now since I am married, my wife sees to it that I do not blow money out of proportion. What are the investments that you have made? The most important investment I have made is that I have bought a house. Apart from that I have also invested in mutual funds, public provident fund (PPF) and other pension plans. What has been your most expensive purchase? Essentially, it was my house. Apart from that, I have bought jewellery and other things that went into the marriage proceedings. Do you feel financially secure? Well, I do not think there is anyone in this industry who does not feel insecure. But as of now, I am secure and can survive peacefully for five years without work. Who handles your expenses? Myself and my wife; we both mutually manage it. What was your first salary? (laughs) When I was in Delhi, I used to do a lot of print ads and commercials. I remember that my first salary was Rs. 15,000. How much money do you carry every day? I prefer using my card as it’s easier to keep a tab on like where you are spending. I also carry Rs. 2,000 in my pocket. Your advice for new investors? Invest 30 per cent of your income as it will not only save tax but also benefit you in the future.
