Zee TV’s longest running talent-based reality show- Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, India’s most definitive platform for singing has been instrumental in identifying and grooming some of the country's most remarkable talent in music including Shreya Ghoshal, Kunal Ganjawala, Shekhar Ravjiani, Bela Shende, Sanjivani and Kamal Khan over the last two decades. The show adds yet another feather to its cap with the winner of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012’ Jasraj Joshi making his Bollywood playback debut, lending his voice to the title song of the much-awaited Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Rustom’. He is a rare performer who has got the opportunity to sing the song in two languages, Hindi and Marathi (pl check if this is correct). Jasraj is a classic case of talent nurtured by the ZEE family – His journey began with his discovery on Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, emerging as the show’s winner to now being offered an opportunity by Zee Music to sing the title track of a film co-produced by Zee Studios.
The 33-year-old singer was initially offered to lend his voice for a Marathi song in the movie, but after listening to his melodious voice, makers of the movie were so impressed that they offered him the opportunity to record the title track ‘Rustom Vahi’ in his voice. The immensely talented singer who has made a mark for himself in the Marathi film industry already has a number of hit songs in his kitty.
Passionate about singing, Pune-based singer Jasraj Joshi is a rockstar in every sense! His expertise is a stylized spectacular fusion of classical music and rock music with equal finesse. Having learnt classical music from his maternal grandfather, he always dreamt of being a classical singer. Jasraj later shifted his interests from classical to fusion. This young talent also has a fusion band ‘Shunya’ which he aims to bring to the forefront on the global music map.
Speaking about his latest achievement, Jasraj says, “It’s a great feeling to sing the title track of the most awaited film in Bollywood, Rustom. Participating in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa changed my life forever and I owe all my success to this prestigious platform. It allowed me to showcase my skills in front of the biggest names in the Indian music fraternity and gave me plenty offers to playback. My mentor Shankar Mahadevan helped me hone my skills further to become a complete performer. I have gained tremendous knowledge and experience in the four months that I was a part of the show. Winning it was a like a dream come true. I keep working towards entertaining audiences with pure and good singing and will keep the genre of fusion music alive”.
