14th #IndianTellyAwards: VOTE now - Best Actress in a Lead Role

Best Actress in a Lead Role

The Indian Television Awards are here! Yes, it’s that time of the year when we celebrate the excellence on TV with a special award to the most deserving person from each popular category.  We kick it off with actresses in a lead role…so who deserves to walk away with the coveted title? Let’s take a look:

Divyanka Tripathi as Ishita (Yeh Hai Mohabbatein):
For a North Indian to ace a Tamilian character is not easy, but Divyanka aces it with her charming smile and powerhouse acting. Also, who can forget her hot pairing with Karan Patel?

Deepika Singh as Sandhya (Diya Aur Baati Hum):
In perhaps the most unconventional of roles, Sandhya aka Deepika Singh brings out the essence of her character without resorting to melodrama. In our books, that’s a total win. Say what, guys?

Devoleena Bhattacharjee as Gopi (Saath Nibhaana Saathiya):
Despite the many leaps, the heart of the story remains a cheerful love story. As Gopi, Devoleena brings a certain charm that might just tip the awards in her favour.

Toral Rasputra as Anandi (Balika Vadhu):
Since the time the show debuted, it has broken myths and conventions to make us sit up and take notice. Toral’s acting chops lend the show an interesting tinge. Isn’t she perfect as the traditional, yet forward Anandi?

Dipika Kakar as Simar (Sasural Simar Ka):
In this tale of two sisters, Simar has to not only win over her evil relatives, but also protect her younger sister. Dipika comes out on top in both the departments. Well, but of course!

Pallavi Kulkarni as Ragini (Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar):
Mature love stories can sometimes tread the path of cheesiness, but thanks to Pallavi, this serial maintains its stance. Kudos to her for making the show a real unique one!

Sriti Jha as Pragya (Kumkum Bhagya):
Playing the quintessential ‘bahu’ can backfire, but not when it comes to Sriti aka Pragya. She knows how to emote without waltzing into the overacting territory. She also boasts of a commanding screen presence. Way to go, girl!
