Aanand Rai takes a break from Bombay Talking

Bombay Talking has a new director! Satyam Tripathi has taken over the mantle of the Zee Cafe show from Aanand Rai who had been directing the show from it's inception on 19 November 2006. "I haven't quit the show, I am taking a break to complete my film. It's a start to finish schedule in London. It was decided from the beginning only that I will do the first 26 episodes and then take a break. I'll be back in one and a half months.
Anyways, I would have taken a break even if I didn't have a movie lined up! My tiredness would have shown on screen otherwise. I need to keep loving what I am doing, otherwise I'll be incapable of exciting my actors as well," says Rai. Bombay Talking is an one of its kind show on Zee Cafe, being a homegrown show on a English channel. Produced by UTV, it's the only show since A Mouthful of Sky to be an English language soap produced in India. Satyam Tripathi, who has started shooting for just over a week seems to be happy doing the show. "It's definitely a different kind of a show. It's a refreshing change, since the actors won't be mouthing the same old dialogues. I would be incorporating little changes in the show as I go along. But no major changes," points Tripathi, who was due for a break himself, but decided to take on this project because of his long standing association with UTV. Tripathi till now has decided to see off the schedule that he is currently doing and take a call about continuing after that. Meanwhile, the show has roped in Parinita Seth, (previously Ira in Star One's Dil Kya Chahta Hai) will play Soundarya, a southern superstar who will arrive in Mumbai and pitch for Laila's role. "It's an interesting character and I am looking forward to it. It's been a pleasure woking with Priyanka and I hope my work is appreciated," says Parinita who will make her appearance this week (Sunday). Our sources reaveal that the character was included in the show to add a little bit of a twist and also create some competition for Sheena (Priyanka Bassi), who has been given the role of Laila presently. Who finally gets to be Laila seems to be the question that viewers will be aching to know! But we hope that this change in directors doesn't become a game of musical chairs and end up harming the show!
