MUMBAI : Popular actor Aarya Bhatta is currently portraying the role of Shantanu Bhosale in Star Plus' hit drama series Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin.

The actor who earlier played the role of Shakti Arora aka Ishaan's father is now seen playing the role of Savi aka Bhavika Sharma's father in the drama series after it took a 7 year leap.

You took an exit from the show last year and now you're back again after the leap happened. What prompted that decision?

I did not take an exit. The exit happened for the two characters, Isha and Shantanu for the couple on-screen. It was basically a decision taken because Savi would be empowered with both Shantanu and Isha. They are very strong characters and personalities and that's how their characters are written.

Life would become very easy for Savi if Isha and Shantanu were there. It was a very mutually understood thing and there was no problem. It was communicated that this is the reason why they are doing this. And it was understood by us. It was great while it lasted and one moves on. And while in the process of moving on, something else was about to work out when they said that if I and Mansi could come back in the show.

When I was told that, I told the makers that I am already committing to another project right now on the web. That wouldn't interfere with my work but it is difficult to manage a TV show and another project. The producers and I had a word. They asked my preference.

Ghum is a legacy and continuing the same character with a lot of changes, so that's why it was easy for me to decide that I wanted to come back.

How was viewers' response after your comeback in the show?

I think the response was very good and very positive. The only difference is now, we both are the heroine's parents and not the hero's parents. That was a big transition happening and it was done very logically. I don't think there was too much of a difference except for the characters who got a little older because of the 7 year leap. Apart from that I don't think there was any change as such. Both the characters are equally participating in the story, are equally strong, and taking care of their daughter. In the previous chapter of the show before the leap, there was a constant bonding between Shantanu, Isha and Savi. The makers logically took this decision to show us as Savi's parents that we were never against Savi.

How is the experience shooting for the festive season?

They are quite challenging. I have a problem that I can't wear a cap even in the heat. I was going crazy when I had to wear a 'Pagdi' during Rajat and Savi's wedding sequence. But irrespective, it's great fun doing these sequences because we all are there.

During Rajat and Savi's wedding sequence, back-to-back functions were there. We shot for that track at Madh Island and it rained heavily. It was an outdoor sequence. The shooting wasn't called off and the production team is so strong and well-prepared. The rains were completely unexpected. We all couldn't even go to our vanity as there was a complete open area and we all were decked up. We were asked to wait in the banquet hall which was there.

I still remember that the makers had to shoot the sequence indoors. The way we all bonded in those two hours during the shoot, it was amazing. We were singing songs, talking, imitating each other, and having fun.
