Aashish Bhardhwaj pens down a poem for his character in Mithai; says “Poetry helps me understand my feelings better!”

Aashish Bhardhwaj

MUMBAI : Zee TV's latest fiction offering - Mithai - is an amalgamation of a love story and a family drama, all tied together inside a wonderful box of traditional Indian sweets. Following the story of two polar opposite personalities - Mithai (Debattama Saha) and Siddharth (Aashish Bhardhwaj), the show delves into the life of a gifted sweet maker based In Mathura who wants to preserve the legacy of Aloo Jalebis that she has inherited from her father but is now, unfortunately, on the verge of extinction. While the show has started off well and is being appreciated by the audience, a lot of exciting twists and turns are all set to keep the viewers at the edge of their seats.

Since they started shooting for the show, lead stars - Aashish Bhardhwaj and Debattama Saha have been working round the clock to make their characters relatable to the audience. In fact, viewers will be amazed to know that Aashish had also penned down a small poem about his character – Siddharth in a bid to understand him better. Hailing from a small town in Uttar Pradesh - Khatauli, Aashish has a passion for poetry and writes a few lines whenever he gets time. Before beginning the shoot for Mithai, when he got the brief for Siddharth, who is a practical guy with a hard exterior after his mother’s untimely death, he wrote down a few lines signifying his character.

Aashish writes, “Na shakha judi, na jad pakdi, phir bhi zinda hoon main, adhura hoon main.” The lines beautifully bring out the exact feelings that Siddharth is going through, and the actor says he wrote this down to understand the emotions of his character and portray it to the best of his ability.

Talking about his love for writing, the actor reveals, "Passion does not require a person to devote all their time to it. As a poet, the world itself seems to be nothing but poetry. Whenever I get time, I write whatever my soul wants me to pen down. I truly feel poetry helps me understand my feelings better. And hence, when I got the responsibility of playing the lead in Mithai, I wanted to pen down a few lines about my character and that’s what I did.” He further adds, “I come from a place where we didn't even have a theatre, so acting was not an easy career path for me. I never thought I would be able to make a name for myself in this industry. But I worked hard and here I am, playing the lead role in a Zee TV show. I can’t express how happy I am to be part of this wonderful show and I hope I can keep entertaining the audience for years to come.”

While Aashish is working hard to ace his character, lots of drama awaits his character, Siddharth as Mithai gets abducted after the competition. Will Siddharth be able to save her for the second time? Or will Bhura be successful in his plan?

To know what happens next, tune in to Mithai every Monday to Saturday at 7 pm, only on Zee TV!
