Abhaas Mehta likes playing a baddie on screen

Abhaas Mehta
Tellychakkar.com has finally found out the reason behind the rising temperatures in Mumbai. Well, sexy and superbly hot Abhaas Mehta is responsible for it. Ha ha…we know we threw a googly. The man who plays the baddie Shyam in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon has become a household name now. Currently, he is missing from the show as the track is focusing on Khushi (Sanaya Irani) and Arnav (Barun Sobti). However, the sexy lad is thoroughly enjoying his hours of leisure. “I am enjoying my holidays. I am a fitness freak so I spend a lot of time in the gym. Tough shooting schedules make travelling difficult, so now that I am at ease, I am also travelling a lot,” shares Abhaas with Tellychakkar.com. Abhaas has emerged as the new bad boy of the small screen and he loves the hatred he receives from his fans. “I did not opt for a popular show on a GEC to act in Iss Pyaar Ko…I owe everything to the show as it has given me a lot and has made me what I am today. And I am happy that people actually hate Shyam because it shows that I have done my job convincingly,” Abhaas goes on to state. He continues, “I remember once I was at home and my mom was watching my show. After watching a particular sequence wherein Khushi’s father had a stroke, she looked angrily at me and started behaving strangely. Then I told her that I am Abhaas and not Shyam. That was quite funny. In another incident, director of my show, Lalit Mohan, called me up and compared my work with SRK from Darr and Joker in Dark Knight. I was left overwhelmed.” But it’s not that he is playing a baddie for the first time. Abhaas has earlier donned a negative avatar (for a cameo) in Laado. However, with soft looks and a good face it was not easy for him to convince the makers that he can do negative roles with ease. “Initially nobody offered me a negative role as they thought I am too sweet to be bad but then thanks to my cameo in Laado, tables turned and I got Shyam.” On his future plans, he says, “I don’t want to do stereotype roles. I will try out many characters, be it positive or negative. I always tend to do roles which I enjoy enacting and don’t get bored in the long run, which is a common thing in daily soaps.”
