Actress Surbhi Tiwari becomes a victim of ATM fraud; files FIR in Versova Police Station

MUMBAI: Actress Surbhi Tiwari was in for a rude shock when she realised that someone had withdrawn money from her bank account. After being advised by the executives of the bank where she holds an account, Surbhi immediately filed an FIR at the Versova Police Station, intimating them about an unauthorised transaction of Rs 9,000 that was made on December 21.

Surbhi shares, “Around 7:30 am on December 21, I received a call from an executive from the bank asking me whether I wanted to block my card following a few failed attempts and an authorised transaction. I immediately looked for my debit card and found it in my bag. Fearing another unauthorised transaction, I blocked the card. However, a few minutes later, I received a message about a withdrawal of Rs 9,000. Since a suspicious activity had already taken place, I called up on the number again to check if it was indeed from the bank. The executive told me that several attempts had been made by someone to withdraw money at Nashik Road and if I had not blocked my debit card promptly, I would have lost more money.

Worried about losing her hard-earned money, the actress wasted no time in filing an FIR at the Versova Police Station. She says, “It was an unauthorised transaction and the money wasn’t withdrawn by me. The executive assured me that I would get my money back within 23 working days if I produced an FIR in 48 hours.”

Surbhi wants everyone to be alert while making online transactions. “I had not stepped out for the past 17 days and had groceries and other items delivered at home. I would request everyone to be careful while punching in their password so that it leaves no scope for any kind of cloning. I immediately called up the owners of the stores that I would often order stuff from to keep a check on their employees. This is my hard-earned money and I can’t be expected to sit quietly while someone makes an unauthorised transaction even if it is for a few hundred rupees.”

Surbhi Tiwari is an Indian television actress. She was last seen in Tota Weds Maina, and in the role of Kanchan Kothari in Diya Aur Baati Hum and Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se as Cameo.
