Humsafars (4 Lions Films), the new show set to air on Sony TV has created a lot of media buzz and pepped audience interest. Reason? Television heartthrob Harshad Chopda is making a comeback on the small screen with this serial. He will romance newcomer Shivya Pathania.
Apart from that, Sehban Azim is also going to be seen in Humsafars.
The young actor has realier been part of shows like Dill Mill Gayee, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai and Dil Dostii Dance and also has many episodics to his credit.
Talking about his character Humsafars, Sehban shares, “I play the youngest child in the house named Zaki, who has all bad qualities but also a golden heart. He drinks, is a womanizer but when it comes to his mother and elder brother, he would never dare to go against them. He is the dark house in the house who has immense respect and love for all but runs away from responsibilities. It’s a very interesting role.”
Having played grey shaded character in others shows, how relatable was the role of Zaki? “Personally there are not many similarities as I never run away from responsibilities. In Ek Hazaaron Mein I was playing a dark character but it had a motive and everything revolved around vengeance. Here though quirky, I will have a positive side.”
So is he prepared to get into the grind of a daily show life? “Of course I am. Dailies give a chance to actors to live a character. Hence, after a few days, you start thinking like the character by default. It’s actually fun for it’s a different world. Thankfully I have known the crew so it’s a homely atmosphere and I am slowly bonding with the cast too. It looks like it’s going to be a fun time ahead.”
When asked that playing a Muslim character must be coming naturally to him, Sehban reveals, “It surely is a boon. Every actor tries to translate the script given to him in his language. I used to remind myself that I should use Hindi rather than Urdu at times. But here it’s an added advantage and speaking in your own language helps me to express and perform much better.”
There were talks about him being helped by his good friend Karan Singh Grover to imbibe Muslim mannerisms. Karan, if one remembers, played a Muslim in Zee TV’s Qubool Hai. Commenting on it, Sehban says: “Not really. There is already a language instructor around. Since I write and my mom is also a writer, words come naturally to me.”
Sharing some interesting tidbits about his industry connections, Sehban quips, “My good friends Barun (Sobti) and Karan (Singh Grover) has already been part of 4 Lions family, and now I am also being a part of the production house’s show. Hopefully I too will have a great run with them. Also with the set being located in Kanjurmarg, I feel I have a past connection from here; all my shows have been shot here (smiles).”
Well Sehban wish you all the luck with Humsafars!
