Anas Rashid wins against Rupal Patel in culinary battle on MasterChef India tonight

After having appeared in MasterChef India as a celebrity guest who was welcoming the contestants, Rupal Patel (who plays Kokila in Star Plus’ Saath Nibhana Saathiya) will participate as a contestant tonight (30 March 2013). She will be pitted against Anas Rashid (who plays Sooraj in Diya Aur Baati Hum). Rupal prepared Gujarati thali - Swaad Nu Ramjhat - methi thepala, undhiyu, khandvi, and shrikand. Speaking on her experience on the show she said, “I was quite tensed as celebrity chefs were judging my cooking. I regained confidence after taking Lord Krishna’s name and ultimately enjoyed the whole experience.” Interestingly Sooraj, Anas’ reel character in his show Diya Aur Baati Hum had won an international cooking competition. Fact mimicked fiction to emerge him as a winner tonight, revealed our source. Tonight, you will see the handsome actor making Imarti which he named Emrate Imarti. He makes a pyramid out of them. Despite the fact that his plate fell, he went on to win. We asked Anas if participating on a cooking reality show was like his real life experience of being on one. He replied, “Both experiences were quite similar. The biggest challenge is to prepare a dish with the resources you have been given within a time limit.” On the other hand, Devoleena Bhattacharjee who plays the demure Gopi bahu in Saath Nibhana Saathiya will compete against Deepika Singh who plays Sandhya in Diya Aur Baati Hum. Though this is a challenge between the Modi family of Saath Nibhana and the Rathi family of Diya Aur Baati with the participants being in their character costumes, the competition will be between the real and not the on screen personas.
