Anup Upadhyay: 'Excuse Me Maadam' will receive more love from the audience

MUMBAI: Anup Upadhyay, who has been part of shows like "F.I.R.", " Lapataganj", and "Jijaji Chhat Per Hain!", to name a few, is currently seen in the comedy show "Excuse Me Maadam", which went on air September 14. The show is the second season of the popular sitcom "May I Come In Madam?" and the actor says the new show will be admired by the audience more.

"'May I Come In Madam?' was a hit show and this will be also a big hit because it is very well written, directed, and the actors too are very good. The producers are very supportive and are quite excited too. We are shooting the show with full enthusiasm and a positive attitude and just like the previous season, even this one is fun. I believe 'Excuse Me Maadam' will receive more love from the audience," he said.

The show produced by Edit II production house also features Rajesh Kumar, Nyra Banerjee, Sucheta Khanna, and Vishwanath Chatterjee. Sharing his experience of working with producer duo Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli, he said, "I have been working with them for a long time. Binaiferr ji takes very good care of us. She checks on us time and again. Even during the lockdown, she was in touch with the whole unit, she was constantly asking us to share if we are in any kind of trouble. She is a very loving producer and even Sanjay Ji is the same. He comes on the set quite often and asks us if anyone is in a problem and he tries to solve it."

"I have done many shows with them, like 'F.I.R.', 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!', 'Jijaji Chhat Per Hain!', 'May I Come In Madam?', currently I am doing 'Excuse Me Maadam'. There is no doubt they are very kind producer and I love them very much," he added.  The actor is playing the role of Rajesh's on-screen character Sanam's brother-in-law and he further added, "I am a homemaker in the show, I do all household work, so I am like a house husband. My on-screen wife is a police inspector, and he is very scared of her. He is a very loving husband, but all his dreams are buried in his heart which he cannot fulfill."

He also said, "I said yes to the role because it is a different character. It's very well written by our writer Manoj Santoshi, and our director Shashank Bali has directed it very well. When I heard the brief of my character, I felt that it is different so I opted for it and I was very excited to do this. I feel that the audience will love this character." When asked about shooting in the new normal, Anup said though it's not really hectic, he misses spending time with the cast.

"Shooting in the new normal is not really hectic, it’s just that we take a lot of precautions like we wear a mask, use sanitizer, and actors remove masks just before the take. We maintain social-distancing also and yes it is something new which we haven’t done before. Earlier we all used to sit together, eat together and chit chat, we used to shake hands and we used to share many things with each other but now the situation is not like that, so we all stay in our rooms," he concluded.
