MUMBAI: Anupamaa has been at the top of charts most of the time and the love it gets from fans is immense and powerful in a way that really motivates the makers and the cast of the show. While there is a major chunk of the audience who love the show, there are also some who express their dislike but that’s just social media for you.
Sometimes, things slip out of hands and people come out with opinions as if there is not going to be any consequence for their actions. Something similar has happened this time.
Here’s what happened:
A while ago, a post from 2020 resurfaced wherein Rupali Ganguly’s stepdaughter Esha Verma had spoken about the abuse and disrespect that Esha and her mother faced by Rupali who is now married to Esha’s dad Ashwin. After the resurfacing of the post, Esha doubled down on her accusations, even blaming Rupali for her parents' split.
As a response, Rupali slapped her with a defamation notice according to which the Anupamaa actress was ‘shocked and deeply disturbed’ by the accusation, when she had in fact helped Esha in her acting aspirations. Things changed quite a bit after this as Esha took a step back from social media, turned her account into private mode.
Latest Update:
As per the latest update, Sana Raees Khan, Rupali’s lawyer, has confirmed filing the defamation suit in Bombay High Court against Esha Verma. According to Sana Raees Khan, “We have filed a defamation suit in the High Court today to combat the malicious and calculated attempt to tarnish Rupali’s reputation through baseless and defamatory statements.
No one can misuse public platforms to defame and degrade others without facing the consequences.
Misguided belief that foreign citizenship can shield a person from accountability is legally unfounded. Justice knows no borders, and the law will pursue those who misuse their privileges to commit offenses, regardless of where they reside.”
