MUMBAI: One of the most popular TV shows these days is Anupamaa. It has been garnering a lot of fame and is loved by audiences all over. It is one of the shows that frequently tops the BARC ratings. The lead actress of the show is Rupali Ganguly. On the show, the actor is seen as a devoted mother and daughter-in-law, who is often looked down upon for not completing her education.
In a recent interview, Rupali Ganguly shared that her son Rudransh does not watch the show as he feels like she spends most of her time on the sets of the show rather than at home. She also shared that her husband made the decision to take an early retirement so that he can take care of their son while she was at work. She even shared that maybe she has ‘probably failed’ in her responsibility as a mother.
Last month, Rupali Ganguly was present at a Durga Puja pandal along with husband Ashwin K Verma and their son Rudransh. Rupali’s son has been seen many times accompanying her for different events in Mumbai. In a recent interview, Rupali Ganguly opened up about her ‘very supportive’ husband, and how he is both parents for their son.

Rupali shared, “I am blessed that I have a husband who is so supportive. He has taken early retirement and moved from America. It does not matter if I work or not. We do not have big desires… He said our child needs one parent. I never left my child with the house help. I didn’t. Not that they are bad. I had a wonderful girl as a caretaker. They are family to me. But I have never actually left my child for work. My husband is very supportive. He believes that our child needs at least one parent. He has been there with Rudransh. He is his mother and father both. I, as a mother, probably have failed. But he has been a father and a mother to my son and a fantastic one.”
Rupali even shared about receiving criticism as a working mother, and about her husband’s choice to shift to India to become a stay-at-home parent. She said, “People will say something or the other because they have to. They have no work and so they keep saying something or the other.”
Rupali had earlier said that she was initially unsure about taking up the role. Rupali had said in an earlier interview in March 2022, that she did not feel too confident about making a come-back to the small screen after a gap of seven years. She even felt that she was overweight before taking the role. She initially rose to fame for her role of Monisha Sarabhai in the TV show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. She even made appearances in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby and Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi.
