Like any star kid, Apara Mehta's daughter Khushali too harbored the dreams of getting into television. But as of now this 21 year old youngster's telly dreams have taken a back seat for now.
The pretty young thing is getting herself trained with theatre before trying her luck in the small screen. Khushali is doing a Gujrathi play, Marriage Ma Masti Masti Ma Marriage, where's she's not only essaying a role with her mom Apara, but has written and conceptualized the entire skit!
The two hour ten minutes play is touted to be a social drama with enough dose of comedy in it and will be staged on 25 February in Mumbai.
"The play deals with a live-in couple and their daughter who's the apple of their eye of her father (not a biological one though). But the girl decides to settle down while the father wants her to concentrate on her career. Eventually the groom's family goes against the marriage as they want the biological father to do the kanyadaan," reveals a proud mother Apara, who manages time for the play along with her on going shows Karam Apna Apna and Solah Singarr.
Apara and her husband Darshan Jariwala (who have been living separate) have been extremely open and friendly with their daughter since her childhood. "Khushali has grown up in the back stage and the relationship of the three people in the play is exactly like ours. We are like friends so the play is very autobiographical in that sense. However the twistSs and turns have been purely her thoughts. The play is not against the institution of marriage but it talks about it's true meaning," adds Apara.
We ask Khushali if she's happy acting or plans to take on writing?
"I developed the subject of the play and I am acting in it as well. My father was planning to do a play of this kind since long but when mom and Feroz uncle decided to do a play I promptly decided to develop the screenplay and there was no looking back. I wasn't sure if I could do it. So far I've tried audtioning for television shows but haven't had much luck there but I am happy doing good roles in theatre. Also doing lead roles in television is a huge responsibility," smiles Khushali who graduated from St Andrews college last year.
Marriage Ma Masti Masti Ma Marriage boosts of actors like Apara Mehta, Feroz Bhagat and Khushali Mehta and will be turned into a Hindi play soon.
