Yesteryear's beauty, Asha Parekh is back on television. Akhanda Saubhagyavati, a Gujarati show produced by the actor will air on ETV Gujarati from 6 March, Monday to Friday between 8:30pm-9:00 pm.
Not known to many, Asha Parekh, has featured in three Gujrathi films. "And now I am returning to my Gujarati roots," says Parekh.
Under her banner Akruti Films, this veteran actress-turned-television-producer-director has a forte of talking about relationships from a woman's point of
view. Her previous work includes shows like the Renuka Shahane starrer, Kora Kagaz. The ETV show is the third Gujarati serial produced by Asha Parekh, the first two being Jyoti for Doordarshan and Nari Tu Na Hari for ETV Gujarati.
"The Gujarati serial Akhanda Saubhagyavati, which I have produced, is coming on ETV Gujarati. It is a proud moment for me. I have always felt my work and my art would keep me close to my roots," says Parekh.
Remembering the three Gujarati films she acted in, Asha says, "My first Gujarati film, called Akhanda Saubhagyavati, was a smash hit. But at that moment I was at the brink of my career in Bollywood. But now I feel proud to come back with a serial in my mother tongue," says Asha.
Talking about her future plans, the actor says that she's looking forward to a Hindi serial. Set in an army background, the show will soon go on the floor. But currently she only wants to focus on her Gujrati serial.
