Ashiesh Roy quits 'Yes Boss'

Not so long ago, Delnaz Paul said goodbye to Rajan Wagdhare's Yes Boss on Sab TV. Now, it's Ashiesh Roy's turn to say 'au revoir'. Roy claims there was no friction between him and the production house or the channel. "I started getting lots of offers for other good roles. With Yes Boss,I was straitjacketed as a comedian. It's just a matter of taking one step ahead in your career. I sat with Wagdhare who is like family to me. He said he had no problems if I quit."
He said he had no problems if I quit." For those who can look beyond Ekta Kapoor and Star Plus, Roy is indeed happening for the past few days. Watch him as Professor Chaudhary in Remix (Star One), Pundarik in Rajaa Mukerji's Prratima (Sahara One), new villain Rajan in Cinevistaas' Aayushman (Sony) and the comic Chungilal in UTV's Kabhi Hero Kabhi Zero (Hungama). Plus he has bagged Ken Ghosh's forthcoming serial Adaa (with Nirmal Pandey and Deepshikha) where he plays a 60 year old Christian guy. The serial, coming up on Sahara One from December 27, deals with an acting school where all three protagonists play acting teachers. The serial will mark Deepshikha's return to the tube after her second pregnancy. Add this to Shyam Benegal's film Netaji, Vinta Nanda's White Noise and Zoya Akhtar's film Luck By Chance (almost through, he says). Not over yet! He has been tested for Nagesh Kukunoor's forthcoming venture for Subhash Ghai. When contacted, Wagdhare said, "There were a few minor issues, but nothing major," adding, "The boy did inform me of his decision. I have nothing against him. He has got more roles now, so he is certainly entitled to take a decision on what he wants. He is a very hardworking person. I wish him the very best." On the personal front too, Roy is rocking. He is still going steady with his love, Shikha Kalra (a jewellrey designer). "It's a cute love story. I hope it meets a fairytale ending," he says, "Her parents have been a trifle cold towards me. Not so long ago, they told her in no uncertain terms that her career was going great guns, whereas I was still struggling. I felt terribly humiliated. But in the next fortnight, I was flooded with all the above mentioned offers and even the Asian Paints commercial. My to-be mother-in-law doesn't talk to me. We were very good friends once upon a time. But when she realised that her daughter considered me more than a friend, she turned her back on me." Well, here's hoping a change in his fortunes, spells a turn in his domestic fortunes as well!
