MUMBAI : Star Plus is known for its shows that start with a deeper social meaning. They tell you stories of doctors, police officers, and singers. Well, sometimes it works, and also starts on a great note, but then fall flat.
Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin started as a story of a mistaken and a forceful wedding when Virat Marries Sai as a way to keep a promise to his dying father. The emotion of devotion, sacrifice and oath-keeping is great, but Virat does not happen to be a likable character. This story turns into a nightmare pretty soon.
Of course, Virat does have some standout moments but they usually disappear very quickly. It is probably the fault of the writers since they do not seem to trust Virat’s character. But the question here is, why?
Sai on the other hand, has a rollercoaster of a journey and Pakhi only serves the role of a catalyst. Just when GHKKPM requires a villain, Pakhi is converted into one.
But then, why should these women fight for the love of a man who is so unsure of his own emotions and gets swayed so easily? In the recent episodes, Virat has abused his powers as a police officer to keep the mother of their child apart. We know that there are a lot of contexts there. But, those 3 minutes overpower the rest of the plot.
Sai often fails to stand up to the injustice happening with her, but to Ayesha Singh’s credit, you still root for Sai.
The story seems to be going backward in terms of plot. There is a love triangle, a memory loss and a child who is kept separate. The question is, what is Ghum Hai Kiskey Pyaar Meiin offering and why are we watching it?
