MUMBAI : Avneet Kaur was among the celebrities present at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. To present the first glimpse of her next movie, "Love in Vietnam," the actress traveled to the French Riviera.

Avneet also posted a couple of photos on her Instagram account on Thursday, offering a sneak peek at the occasion and the first glimpse of the planned project including collaboration between Vietnam and India.

However, responses ranging from "What are you doing there?" to "Cannes has lost its stature" were common in the photographs' comments space. A few while ago, Taha Shah Badussha, who worked in Heeramandi, was also trolled for attending the Cannes Film Festival.

Avneet addressed the negative comments made about it on social media, telling the popular news portal that it's unfortunate and that people need to be proud of India for having a film festival presence.

She said, “It was the biggest news and everyone should be proud of that and take pride in that. If Taha Shah or anyone has gone there, it’s a great thing. People should be happy for that. He’s gone for his film, I think, and I went for my film as well. I went to release my poster. People do ask me, ‘Yeh kyun chali gayi waha? Iska kya jana bana?’ Ulta dekh ke khush hona chahiye. I don’t understand why there is so much negativity without any reason. Why do you need to spread that in the comments section? You could at least say something good about that person, make their day but they want to do all this! I don’t understand why they do this. I just feel this year has been a very special one for India to go to such a big global platform and represent the nation. So why not be happy for us? Nancy (Tyagi) has done so well. She was all over the Internet. We should all support each other.”

During the launch, Vietnamese actress Kha Ngan and co-star Shantanu Maheshwari were with Avneet. The trio of leads, Shantanu, Avneet, and Kha Ngan with a guitar in hand, appears on the initial poster for Love in Vietnam. The second poster showed the Gangubai Kathiawadi actor and Tiku Weds Sheru actress looking in opposing directions, hinting at a complex love story between them.

Avneet Kaur will appear with Sunny Singh in Luv Ki Arrange Marriage on Zee5.
