MUMBAI: Actress Shivangi Verma, who has been part of shows like Choti Sarrdaarni, Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor, and recently appeared in Badass Ravi Kumarbelieves Mumbai is truly a city of dreams, but also a city that tests every person’s patience. Talking about the contrast between her life as an actor and the life of common Mumbaikars, she says, “For me, Mumbai is both inspiring and challenging. As an actor, I chase my dreams every day, but I know many people in this city are also chasing theirs in different ways. The struggle is common, only the paths are different.”
When asked if she ever feels disconnected from the daily issues people face in Mumbai, Shivangi strongly denies it. She explains, “No, not at all. I travel, I face traffic, and I also see how high living costs can affect people. These challenges are part of my life too. Being an actor does not mean I am cut off from reality.”
She adds that she often feels deeply connected with the spirit of the people in the city.On what celebrities can do to shed light on hardships, she says, “Celebrities have a voice that reaches far. We can use our platform to speak about real problems and inspire people to not give up. Even a small gesture from us can create a difference.”
Shivangi also touches on how the media sometimes only glorifies celebrity lifestyles. She says, “I understand why people feel that way. Media mostly shows the glamorous side, but the truth is, every actor also faces struggles, rejections, and tough days.”
Reflecting on her own journey, she admits, “Before becoming an actor, I also struggled with auditions, travel, and finding my space in the city. Even now, I experience the same traffic jams and rising costs as everyone else.”
For her, Mumbai has been the biggest teacher. She says warmly, “This city has taught me patience, strength, and never to give up. If I get a chance, I would like to bring more awareness about traffic and transport problems because it affects every single person here.”
