Being in the industry has made me more confident, reliable and independent: Rohan Gandotra

Actor Rohan Gandotra says that being part of the television industry has changed him as a person. "I used to be a very reserved person, who did not know how to speak. But being in this industry has made me more confident, more reliable, independent and a decent actor too," says Rohan, who has been part of shows such as Qubool Hai and Kaala Teeka.

The actor says that he loves his profession and it no longer feels like work for him. "The interesting thing about being an actor is that I love my job. When you love your job, it does not feel like you are working. It's fun doing what you love," he says.

The actor adds that he never thought he would get into this profession. "I never thought I would be acting at any point of life. I was living life a stress free life. Everything in my life happened gradually and I just went with the flow. It was during my college days, when I started modelling for the college fest because I was friends with the designing students, who used to make clothes to showcase on the ramp. I got a good response there but later in my 3rd year of college, I realised that ramp modelling is not for me and I can try my hand at other kinds of modelling. Back in those days in Delhi there used to be a lot of print modelling assignments, hoarding shoots and all. I was 19 when I got my first professional photographs clicked. I was modelling for some time after that and did around 30-40 good brands alongside my college and later when I was doing a job too," he says.

Reminiscing how he entered showbiz, Rohan says he still remembers his first audition. "I got a call from one of the most reputed production houses for a look test to Mumbai after my pictures were shortlisted. I came on a weekend as it was my off from the job at the time. After I auditioned, I realised how bad I was at acting and how tough the competition is going to be. But I also realised how much I enjoyed acting. At that point, I decided to stay back and give acting a try," says Rohan.

Rohan says that as an actor, many people follow you, and that forces you to make responsible decisions. "An actor, who is loved by the audience, has the power to influence because people relate to them or their character onscreen. So it's very important for us to make sure that whatever character, we are playing onscreen, should not influence anyone in the wrong way," says Rohan.

Tellychakkar hopes that Rohan will remain true to his words and not play any character that doesn't make sense or is unappealing in anyway.
