TellyChakkar got in touch with Deepak and asked him about how his journey began as a casting director and what are the challenges her faces while casting.

How did your journey start as a casting director?

I came to Mumbai in 2009 and wanted to become an actor and I struggled for it for a brief amount of time and I used to travel from Jaipur - Mumbai. Then 2011 and 2012 in Triangle Production I did a small role for the serial Devo Ka Deva Mahadeva and then around the year 2015 - 2016 I began my casting career where I casted for many shows a assistant casting director. I also casted for almost 700 episodes for Crime shows. I did casting for shows like Muskuraane Ki Vajah Tum Ho, Teri Meri Doriyaann, Pyar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti etc.

Since the nine months I am completely involved in triangle productions and I am doing the casting of the shows. Imagine the production house where I had worked as a junior artist today I am working as casting director and I love working with my boss Nikhil as I feel life has come a full circle.

What are the challenges you face as a casting director?

The biggest challenge is that a show shuts down in two - three months and then again the casting begins. For example, the casting I did for Teri Meri Doriyaann the producer of the show said that we had to cast for thirty two characters and now that's the challenge as even the casting for one character would go wrong it would affect the serial. So we locked in Angad, Saheba, Keerat and Garry the first so the leads were in place. When the promo of the show was out there were some changes in the character and then withing fifteen days we had to do replacements of a few character, though the producers had given us two months time for the casting but then we completed it for 1 1/2 months. As casting directors we have to be very careful we cannot go wrong.

Well, there is no doubt that Deepak Joshi is one of the most reputed and well known casting directors of the entertainment industry.
