MUMBAI: Nimiki Mukhiya, Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, and Happu Ki Ultan Paltan actor Anuradha Uphadhyay, who is currently seen in the music video Baarisha, believes that the International Day of the Girl Child, which is observed on October 11, is a reminder of the importance of equality, opportunity, and dreams.
She said, "The International Day of the Girl Child reminds me to celebrate and support every girl’s right to dream and achieve equally."
Growing up, her biggest inspiration was in her own home. She said, "My mother has been my strongest influence, inspiring me with her strength, patience, and unwavering belief in me."
As a public figure, Anuradha believes it's her duty to highlight issues faced by girls. She said, "Girls still face challenges like unequal access to education, limited opportunities, and persistent gender bias. I feel a strong responsibility to use my platform to raise awareness about issues faced by girls in society."
She also pointed out that the entertainment industry plays a crucial role in storytelling in shaping social attitudes. She said, "The entertainment industry can break stereotypes by portraying strong, inspiring, and empowered female characters."
For her, real change begins with everyday actions. "Each of us can empower girls by supporting their education, encouraging their dreams, and treating them equally," Anuradha ended.
