Let the champagne flow and souls make merry!!! Yes, it is time to celebrate as Colors, one of the finest GECs, is completing 5 years in business this Sunday (21 July 2013). Tellychakkar.com has learnt that throughout next week viewers will see festivity on the channel…in terms of programming. Shows across will infuse plots that will commemorate the achievement, is what we have learnt from channel sources. “Plans are on at the creative level and it is going to be a gala affair,” continued the source. Colors is a channel which brought a fresh whiff of air into Hindi television content via its innovative concepts which catered to both the urban (Mukti Bandha, Mrs Pammi Pyarelal, Na Bole Tum Series, Madhubala, Uttaran, Parichay) and rural market (Balika Vadhu, Sasural Simar Ka, Bhagyavidata, Bairi Piya, Laado, Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Bani, Phulwa, Rishton Se Badi Pratha among others). They also dabbled with diverse genres like historicals and mythos with Veer Shivaji, Durga, Jay Shri Krishna et al. Thriller show lovers enjoyed watching the twists and turns in Chhal. However, they struck gold with their superb reality show concepts namely Bigg Boss, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Aamna Saamna (constructed reality) Fear Factor, India’s Got Talent, Shaitan amongst others. Said an avid watcher of Colors, Abhishek Mehta from Gujarat: “I have been watching the channel since a long time now and what I love is its variety in terms of concepts. The packaging of shows, promos look very appealing. I especially like the idea of kahani ab tak, where we get to see recaps of shows. So even if you miss a few episodes, you get a hang of what’s happening in your favourite soaps.” Anil Wanvari, Owner and Founder of Indiantelevision Dot Com, has been closely associated with the channel for a long time now. ITV2.0 Productions’ The Indian Telly Awards airs on the channel. Says the media analyst and entrepreneur: “Working with Colors has been a pleasure. The non-fiction team led by Manisha Sharma (though we have not had the good fortune of working with her directly) is par excellence. It's been a delight working with Smitha Parigi and the entire creative team and also the marketing team led by Rajesh Iyer and commercial team led by Romil Ramgarhia. Then of course there is CEO Raj Nayak - anything you say about him will not do justice to him. A fabulous professional he has always been supportive of industry initiatives and pushing the envelope on almost everything. We congratulate him and the entire Colors team and look forward to the next five." Talking exclusively to Tellychakkar.com, Raj Nayak shared, “5 years is big milestone for us. It has been an extremely challenging, exciting and a rewarding journey. Moving on, work never stops for the creatives at Colors as they are busy weaving a beautiful Eid special sequence. Said a channel source, “Things are at its nascent stage but yes there will be an Eid special sequence. As of now, Akshay Kumar has shot with Ragini Khanna, wherein the lovely lady will be seen wooing the actor. There will be lot of other elements involving Colors actors and other celebs, but things are at a planning stage as of now.” We tried getting in touch with Ragini to get more info but she remained unavailable. The Eid sequence is expected to air on the day of Eid (9 August) or the same weekend. Tellychakkar.com has also learnt that the channel is also conceptualising a special sequence to air on the occasion of Independence Day (15 August 2013).
