Chhal Sheh Aur Maat opts for genre change; turns from a thriller to family drama

Tellychakkar.com had earlier reported that Colors’ show Chhal Sheh Aur Maat was in trouble over low ratings and they might have been given a notice by the channel to shape up things. Since then we have dug further and found that as of now Colors has given the production house time till August (2012) to up their ratings to 2 TVR( currently 1.5 down from last week of 1.7). If not, the show will either see a time slot change or an alteration in the genre altogether.

Readers will remember in the earlier story producer Bhairavi Raichura had not rejected the latter possibility. There in not much reports coming in respect to the time slot change, but on the change of genre, actor Aamir Dalvi aka Abhinav said, “We too have heard the possible change of genre which might take place in the next two or three weeks. It will become a family drama. This change will be good as we will have many more tracks to play with.” He further continued, “The shift will take place gradually. Some time is needed to give the current track a logical end and we can’t do things in a haste. Ideally, I hope that the creatives do proper balance between family drama and suspense as was first promised. ” Our source also confirmed that genre change is on the anvil for the majority of the thriller high-points which the creatives had penned over a longer period have already been exhausted due to the channel pressure over low ratings, hence a new story needs to be anyway written which will be family drama, something which the audience prefers. We again got in touch with producer Bhairavi and she said, “It is not a genre change. We had from the beginning said that it is a social thriller…so obviously family will be involved.” One of our other sources further shared that the genre change move just might be a stop gap arrangement before the channel finally pulls the plug off the show. The serial apparently has been given green light only till August and since September things will be open ended. Let’s see what lies ahead for Chhal Sheh Aur Maat. We will soon come up with more updates.
