MUMBAI: A journey that took viewers through a celebration of dance has finally come to a befitting culmination as Sony Entertainment Television's popular dance reality show, India’s Best Dancer – Season 2 has found this season’s BestKaNextAvtar! With a grand showcase of multiple dance acts and techniques, ‘The Ultimate Finale’ of India’s Best Dancer has been an exceptional one. As the country waited in anticipation to know who from amongst the Best 5 Finalists will be declared as the winner, Saumya Kamble from Pune was announced as the season winner and was awarded with the coveted trophy. 

Saumya Kamble was awarded with a cheque of INR 15 lakhs from Sony Entertainment Television and a iMaruti Suzuki Swifti car. Her choreographer Vartika Jha was awarded a cheque of INR 5 lakhs. From the Best 5 finalists, Gourav Sarwan from Jaipur was declared as the first runner-up; Roza Rana from Odisha was declared as the second runner-up; Raktim Thakuria from Assam was declared as the third runner-up and Zamroodh from Kerala was declared as the fourth runner-up. Each one of them was awarded with a cheque of INR 1 lakh by Campus Shoes respectively. Additionally, Sony Entertainment Television also awarded the runners-up with a cheque of INR 1 lakh respectively. Last but not the least, the Best 5 finalists also received the Patanjali Swadeshi Samridhi Card which is preloaded with INR 5,000.

Aptly titled as ‘Humari Choti Helen’ by Asha Bhosleji, Saumya gave it her best and presented some exceptionally jaw dropping belly dancing and freestyle dance acts along with her choreographer Vartika. While her father wanted her to become a doctor and mother an aspirant dancer, the elegant dancer meticulously balanced both their wishes without compromising on her skill. She was also coined as ‘India’s Best Daughter’ on the show by her father who was her constant support in her journey. Not only this, but the highlight moment was when Norah Fatehi gifted her a belly dancing coin belt and performed some smooth belly dancing moves much to the delight of the viewers. From judge Malaika Arora blowing a million kisses to Geeta Kapur giving ‘sajda’ to Terence Lewis saying ‘Chummeshwari,’ Saumya surely made a huge impact with her performances and redefined the Entertainment, Newness and Technique on the show. All in all, a heartly congratulations to Saumya for becoming ‘Best Ka Next Avtar.’

I can’t find words to describe this surreal feeling. I am overwhelmed with emotions. I would like to thank everyone who voted and supported me in this journey and the ones who have become an integral part of my life. Especially my choreographer and mentor on this show - Vartika didi who has been with me through this journey. I owe a lot to her. Being a part of India’s Best Dancer has been a great learning and I have found likeminded individuals who are as passionate about dancing as I am. I don’t know what the future holds, but dance will surely be an important part of it. I would like to thank all the judges Malaika ma’am, Terence Sir and Geeta Maa who have been a pillar of strength for all of us on the show with their kind words and constant motivation.

When we first got paired, instead of rushing into multiple techniques at once, we took each performance as a challenge and only aimed to do our best. I am so happy for Saumya and Vartika! Saumya has been an outstanding contestant since the beginning. All her efforts have come to fruition and has led to this day where she has rightly been declared as the winner of this season. She truly deserves this, and I wish her all the very best for all their future endeavours.

They came, they danced, they won! I am overjoyed with emotions and very happy that the nation chose Saumya as this season’s #BestKaNextAvtar. For one, she has illustrated the Entertainment, Newness and Technique in all her performances and took up every hurdle that came her way with style and grace! For starters, I have to say that Season 2 of India’s Best Dancer has been a brilliant run! The kind of talent that has come on the show this year is superlative and beyond my imagination. I have learned and unlearned so many techniques by seeing such wonderful talent on the show that I feel grateful. Saumya has been a consistent performer week on week and the nation is witness to her effort and journey on this show. She truly deserved to be this season’s #BestKaNextAvtar and I will pray her success always.
