This trend has been going on since several years.
There is a fixed set of audience for several TV shows who never miss a single episode.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Balika Vadhu are some of the most popular shows of their times.
Right now, there is a trend of sequels and new seasons which is going on.
Several hit TV shows have made a comeback on small screens within a long or a short span of time.
While some proved to be a huge hit just like it's first season, some got a very bad response and were shut down within a few months due to low TRPs.
One of the most popular shows of the late 90s and early 2000s CID is one of the most loved shows on small screens till date.
Well, the ardent viewers are jumping with joy as the show is making a comeback after a long hiatus of six years.

Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava are reviving their respective roles.
The promo recently dropped and left the fans surprised.
While CID is ready to wow the audience with it's new season, let's take a look at TV shows who made a comeback with a new season before CID on small screens.
1. Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein
The show starred Shoaib Ibrahim, Amrapali Dubey and Sumeet Vyas in the lead roles. It aired from 2009 to 2010 and was quite popular among the viewers.
The makers brought back the second season with Trupti Mishra, Vin Rana and Ashish Dixit in the lead roles. It aired from October 2022 to August 2023.
2. Balika Vadhu
This was one of the most watched and loved shows which had a good run for 8 years from 2008 to 2016.
Balika Vadhu 2 made a massive comeback in with lead actors Shivangi Joshi, Randeep Rai, and Samridh Bawa. However, the show failed to impress the viewers. It aired on small screens from 9 August 2021 – 25 February 2022.
3. Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava?
The show starred Sriti Jha and Karanvir Bohra in the lead roles. Fans were in love with this show which ran on-screens from 2011 to 2013.
After a long gap of a decade, the makers brought back the show with it's second season starreing Dheeraj Dhoopar, Amandeep Sidhu and Karanvir. However, it went off-air within a few months.
4. Kasauti Zindagi Kay
This was one of the longest running shows of small screens. It aired on the small screens from 2001 to 2008.
After a gap of 10 years, the makers launched the show's second season with Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan in the leads. Kasauti proved to be a huge hit and ran on-screens for 2 years.
5. Kitani Mohabbat Hai
Karan Kundrra and Kritika Kamra starrer was quite popular among the fans.
After the success of first season, the show's season 2 was launched a year after the first season with the same leads.
6. May I Come in Madam 2?
The Nehha Pendse starrer show was loved by the fans.
The first season aired on Life OK from 7th March 2016 to 25th August 2017 while the second season aired from 26th September 2023 to 20th January 2024 on Star Bharat.
7. Sasural Genda Phool
The show had a massive fan base. It starred Jay Soni and Ragini Khanna in the lead roles.
It aired from 1st March 2010 to 21st April 2012.
The show's second season did not do wonders. It aired on 7th December 2021 and went off air on 15th April 2022.
8. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?
Sanaya Irani and Barun Sobti became everyone's favourite with this show. It had a good one year run from 2011 to 2012.
The makers returned with Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Ek Baar Phir starring Avinash Sachdev and Shrenu Parikh. This season ran on screens for 2 years.
