Well, this week Colors Bangla's 'Robi Thakurer Golpo' will feature this story.

Chokher Bali, for the uninitiated, is a famous novel by Rabindranath Tagore. It is a tale of a beautiful, educated woman, Binodini, struggling to free herself from the oppression of widowhood. 

Her sick husband dies soon after their marriage. She moves into Mahendra’s house, the man who was once offered her hand in marriage but had refused.

There she meets Mahendra’s wife Ashalata and friend Bihari.

Among these four, develop a forbidden attraction, a mesmerizing web of destiny and desire.

The serial will see Priya Pal as Binodini, Riju as Mahendra, Debanjan as Bihari, and Debasree as Ashalata. 

Also starring Rumki Chatterjee, Disha and Pamela, it will be aired from tonight at 9 pm.   

Earlier a film and a mega serial were made on the same story.

The film was directed by Rituparno Ghosh and starred actors Prosenjit Chatterjee as Mahendra, Aishwarya Rai as Binodini, Raima Sen as Ashalata and Tota Roy Chowdhury as Behari.
