Sonali and Amir Jaffer’s upcoming scientific comedy series on Life OK, Bahu Humari Rajni_Kant, has been creating much buzz on the digital platform from the day the first teaser was released on Twitter.
The name of the south Indian superstar Rajnikanth being associated with the venture rightly helped it to grab the required eyeballs.
All set to launch from next week, the show has found itself back in news, but for the wrong reasons.
Though it is not an unusual thing for the viewers to watch similar kind of contents on small screen, the upcoming series on Life OK has been accused of content plagiarism.
While on one hand, Life OK is not leaving any stones unturned to market their next project, on the other, Random Chikibum, the winner of TheComedyHunt (YouTube comedy hunt series), has charged the channel and the makers of Rajni_Kant of content piracy.
According to the tweets of Rahul Subhramanian, a member of Random Chikibum, the group published the video a year ago, where a young man seeks advice from a marriage counsellor about his almost perfect wife and later on it is revealed to be every man’s dream. And quite surprisingly the promo of Rajni_Kant looks similar in an uncanny manner.
Two days ago Rahul tweeted...
When we got in touch with Kumar Varun, another member of Random Chikibum, the young comedian stated, “We hardly watch television, but when we had a look at the promo of Rajni_Kant, it looked quite same to our content. To be honest we are not accusing anyone, but all we want is that as a creative people our hard work should get noticed and appreciated. We are not even thinking about getting into any legal battle regarding copy right issues, but would really appreciate if our work gets its due credit and is praised”.
And it seems that not only Rahul and Varun, but other comedians including Aditi Mittal, Daniel Fernandes, Sumit Anand have also taken a stand against this issue voicing it out in their social media accounts.
Speaking about the fraternity’s support, Varun shared, “I am really glad that Aditi has taken a stand for this and other humorists on digital platform are coming forward and talking about it. We thank them all for speaking up”.
On the other hand, Sonali Jaffer, the producer of Rajni_Kant, seemed to be absolutely aloof from all these developments. When contacted, Sonali stated, “I haven’t seen the video of Random Chikibum, hence I have nothing to say about this issue”.
Well here are the two videos- you guys can judge yourself!
We connected with Channel Head, Kevin Vaz, but he stated that he was out of country and will connect later.
Even the channel spokesperson remained tight lipped and chose not to comment.
All said and done, we do hope that the issue gets sorted soon.
