Actress Pankhuri Awasthi, who has recently been roped in for Razia Sultan (Swastik Productions) in Zee network’s newly launched channel &TV, is excited to play the role of the first woman ruler of the Sultanate dynasty.
Pankhuri will be seen playing the titular role in the show Razia Sultan as the first woman emperor in the early 13th century.
Recently, during the launch of the show, we caught up with the lady and she commented, “As an actor we have the chance of living many parallel lives apart from our own. And I am happy that I am having the chance to live the life of the first woman ruler of India.”
“The character that I will essay in my show is of someone who was ahead of her own time. In the early 13th century it was unthinkable of taking such a step, but Iltutmish, father of Razia Sultana had the courage to do so.”
The pretty lady went on to add, “In current times when women are being harassed and tortured, I simply hope that my show will successfully be able to convey an important social message. I wish that through this show we will be able to project a strong character of women.”
When we ask the lady about her take on historical shows, Pankhuri mentioned, “I believe that historical shows are now trending on Indian television and it’s a good trend if you ask for my opinion. For my show, I had to do a proper research on my part before shooting. I am still working on my diction as the language and diction of Sultanate dynasty was very different.”
