Vikas Bhalla is today a satisfied man playing the central character of Veer Singh Bundela in Colors’ and Filmfarm Productions’ hugely successful show Uttaran. And surprisingly, this is the first time that Vikas has opted to play a middle-aged man and a father’s role. So what prompted him to accept this role? Tellychakkar.com gets you the answer. Vikas Bhalla tells us, “Every actor wants to accept new challenges, and Veer is a role that has various shades to the character. He is not a typical father, and that is just a small aspect of his character. The beautiful and mature love story of Veer and Ichcha is the highlight of the show, and this is what prompted me to take it up.” Talking about the various roles that he has experimented with, Vikas says, “Karishma and Meet were really good where I played the lead role. Tum Bin Jaaoon Kahan, another lead role was extremely popular. In Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin I picked up a negative character and got appreciated for my work. Then came the comedy show Shanno Ki Shaadi and that was a great experience in itself. Recently, I did an interesting cameo in Sanjog Se Bani Sangini. If you take a note of my career graph you can see that I have not repeated myself. And when Prashant Bhatt offered me the role of Veer, I knew there was something in the character that made Prashant choose me. My association with Prashant goes back to the days of Tum Bin… where he was the Creative Head. And today, after playing the role of Veer for nearly two months, I wonder why Nandish Sandhu actually left the role. The role of Veer is so diversified when it comes to the various relationships and emotions the character handles.” Talking about his favorite character, he says, “My role in Shanno Ki Shaadi was really enjoyable. It was a spontaneous comic act and no dialogues were given to us. And the experience of working with actors like Divya Dutta and Kulbhushan Kharbanda was amazing.” Ask him whether his task is cut out as he is getting into show as a replacement to the original Veer and he states, “See even an actor like Ronit Roy had to go through this phase when he came in for Amarr Upadhyay in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. In Kkusum, Mansi Joshi did a stupendous job as Kkusum after Nausheen got replaced. So I feel it is a matter of time before the audience accepts me as Veer. I am being honest to the character, and I am performing to the best of my capability. I have got a good response so far. In fact, I was recently mobbed in public and people talked good about my role.” About his failed opportunities on the big screen Vikas says, “Everything is a new experience in life. We have to accept failure. I tried my level best, and have moved on. That is the best way to live life.”
