Beautiful actress Payel De, who is gearing up to essay Maa Durga for the Mahalaya programme to be featured on Colors Bangla, says that all most all the girls, who learn dance, dream of performing Mahishashurmordini at least once in her career.
“I have mixed feelings. I feel every dancer dreams of performing Mahishashurmordini at least once in her career, be it on stage or on small screen,” Payel expressed to Tellychakkar.com when asked to share her feelings of shooting the same.
She added with excitement, “This is the second time I am performing Mahishashurmordini so, I am on top of the world.”
The actress, known for Bengali soaps like Durga, Behula and Bodhu Kon Alo Laaglo Chokhe, has learnt creative dance for nine years.
Payel said that her childhood memories of Mahalaya are sweet. She shared, “When I was a child and when my grandfather was alive, he used to wake up at four in the morning to put the radio on and listen to Mahalaya by Birendra Krishna Bhadra. I too used to wake up to hear the narration and chanting of the Slokas."
“The memories are sweet. I still hear it,” she added.
The Bong beauty also said that she loved Indrani Haldar and Swastika Mukherjee’s Mahalaya performances.
She quipped, “Both Indranidi and Swastikadi are my icons. They have performed Mahalaya so well. Indranidi is performing this year too. So, I am eagerly waiting to watch her. Apart from mine, I watch other actors’ performances also.”
When asked if she gets power like Durga, she would like to destroy which asur of our society, she said, “I don’t believe in killing of people or in riot. I believe in peace. So, I would request everyone to unite, spread positivity and stand against those people who spread negativity in the whole world.”
