Everybody is far more cautious of hygiene now: Amit Sarin

MUMBAI: “Kkusum” and “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” fame actor Amit Sarin lives in Los Angeles, US, with his wife Vineesha Arora Sarin and kids Vaeda and Aveer. He feels because of the Coronavirus pandemic everybody has become more hygiene conscious.

“I think people who never paid attention towards hygiene are also taking the best possible precautions by washing their hands, using sanitizer, so yes hygiene has been given huge importance by all of us now, which is great even when this pandemic leaves I think this habit of following good hygiene will stay with us. Everybody is far more cautious of hygiene now,” he said.

Talking about the current situation in the States because of the pandemic, Amit said, “Here in California, this week, it’s been announced that things which were open are going to be shut again, so in short, we are facing or going through a second lockdown, same as it was done earlier in March-April for the very first time. We were hoping things to rather slowly open up and we other things were supposed to open in phase, but the cases have increased and that has forced the state to reinforce the lockdown again. It’s very disheartening but there is only one way to reduce these record-breaking numbers, especially in L.A. where the numbers raised like anything.”

He also emphasised on the need for following social-distancing and feels there is no other choice.

“I am talking about America, the number of positive cases are going up drastically and social-distancing is a must. We don’t have any other choice, and we must excercise social-distancing, we must wear a mask when we step out. L.A. and California has 60000 cases on everyday basis, which I don’t think people were hoping. The only way to reduce is to maintain social-distancing and take all the precautions,” Amit said.

He also spoke on how the economy has been hit very badly both in the US and India, and added, “The economy has been hit, it’s not in our hands, we all have to just be at home and not work. I think what comes first is life and second is wealth. I think the focus is on how do we safeguard ourselves from this pandemic and not get sick and pass on the sickness to others.”

Amit is doing meditation regularly for the past three months and says it feels amazing. He added, “I have not been able to do much of exercise but have been doing meditation every day now. It was something which I always wanted to do but was never as regular as I am right now during this COVID time and I think everybody must try meditation.” The actor, who was last seen in "Nisha Aur Uske Cousins" and producing a film titled Tiger Heart, also feels that post-COVID, television viewing will change content-wise.

“Post-Covid we are going to live in a new world with a lot many changes and one sure change will be how we see the content. I think the mindset, what we are going through, and the new things we are going to adopt, so all this will reflect in the content. Because of this pandemic, we all are going through so much, that maybe we would also like to see the lighter side of the world. We will definitely see the content changing, be it in terms of writing or watching them,” Amit signed off.
