Everything’s fair in love and on Jjhoom India

They aspired to jhoom India but at the moment viewers are jhooming with confusion. The recent happenings on Jjhoom India have given rise to few uncomfortable questions. Last week Dimple Kapadia filled in for Shabana Azmi as judge. Also, singer Lucky Ali substituted for Vinod Rathod as mentor to actor Roshni Chopra. Couple of weeks ago, Jolly Mukherjee replaced Zubin Garg to partner the hapless Shama Sikander. Roshni too was left alone when Vinod didn’t turn up for the rehearsals. However, Vinod’s friend Lucky Ali agreed to bail out Roshni.
Speaking on the above turn of events, producer Vipul Shah says, “Vinod had taken ill and it wasn’t possible for him to show up. So, he requested his friend Lucky Ali to help Roshni out. Vinod hasn’t quit, he will come back next week. We discussed this matter with the jury and it was only after their approval that we allowed Lucky to step in.” Reality shows have their fair share of drama but having a substitute is a new thing for Indian viewers. Vipul adds, “We try to maintain the constant factor but if there are unavoidable circumstances then we do have to make some leeway.” Under normal circumstances, such changes don’t go too well with other contestants. However, quite a few of Roshni’s competitors are in fact sypmathising with her. Says Chavi Mittal, “Before bringing in a mentor for Roshni, we were all consulted and no one had any objection to it.” Sachin Tyagi too endorsed Chavi’s opinion. Varun Badola added, “Even though this is a competition, if having Lucky Ali on board can serve the purpose of entertainment then there’s no harm in having him for a particular episode. After all, aren’t we all in the business of entertainment?” While Chavi, Sachin and Varun empathized with Roshni, one man chose to speak his mind. Shekhar Suman was more forthright. “Be it the rules, substitute mentors or a judge’s absence there there’s lot of confusion. Ideally, such changes should not be taking place in a competition. The constant factor should always be maintained.” The above comments may not win Shekhar friends on Jjhoom but his honesty is likely to win viewers’ votes. After all, all that a viewer now seeks from the reality shows is fairness.
