TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about playing roles in a grey shade and his experience with Swarna Ghar

How has this journey of Swarnghar been for you and what made you say yes to this role?

My journey has been very small. I just started shooting for my sequences a couple of weeks ago. But it has been good, my character has a negative hint to him, and it is a spicy role, which  becomes funny sometimes, so it has been interesting. I got to know the character in depth when I came here because they had been trying me for a little while but I was busy shooting something else. The production house is fairly new and I wanted to associate myself with them and see how things work out.

What are the things that you look for in a character before doing them?

There has to be some substance and some form of entertainment in its way. You want the character to be different. Whatever roles I have done, I’ve always looked for different things to do. I search for something unique every time.

Out of all the characters that you have played over the years, is there a role that you have found to be particularly difficult?

Actually, I have played a lot of roles that might have been difficult. There have been some shows that have really successful while there have been some that have not worked. There have been shows where I have had to play 3-4 roles. But I remember that I had difficulty during Shobha Somnath Ki, a show that I did with Zee. Even though we speak Hindi on a daily basis but the language of that era and to get the understanding and flow of that time had been tough. It was the first time I did a historical show and I experienced a lot of things for the first time like horse riding and things but once I got the hang of it I became really comfortable. I was okay even doing 10-page scenes.

In terms of his filmography, Yash Tonk has also had a terrific run. In 1999's Sangharsh, which served as his feature debut, he then began working steadily in numerous movies.
