Akash Jagga is an Indian actor, who is best known for his role as Kaushik Chakraborty in the popular reboot of the show Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Gagan Narayan in Sasural Simar Ka 2.
He has also appeared in music videos like Noor (2019) by T-series and Jate Hue Pal (2019) by Zee Music.
Akash is all set to play the role of Malhar in the news color show Dharampatni.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about his new show, new character, and more!
You are embarking on a new journey, what can you tell us about your character?
Malhar Thakur is the name of the character that I play and he can do anything for himself. He does not care about anyone but himself and he is not bothered by other people. He wants to become an IPS officer just for the power and the money that comes with it, and for that, he can go to any extent.
When you first got to know about the show and when you first heard the narrative, what was the perception in your head about the show?
I was a little shocked because I had never been offered a negative role before. But after the briefing, I was convinced that this was something different and something I always asked for. I always wanted to do a gray character because it sounds challenging, and I did. I found it real challenging because you have to give a lot and it was tough. I understood that I had to put in more effort to understand it and get to the layers of it. I'm still working on it.
Every character has a certain level of depth and needs preparation for the same, did you do any specific kind of preparation for this role?
Not as such, but the language was the main issue. I am someone who is very shy and introverted and I don’t open up that easily. Malhar on the other hand, is someone who is talkative, a little brash and he sits differently. So, that is something that the director and I were and trying to figure it out and and it’s still in process.
Dharampatni airs on Colors and stars Fahmaan Khan, Kritika Yadav, Akash Jagga and Gurpreet Bedi in lead roles.
