MUMBAI: Star Bharat recently launched a new show titled Dheere Dheere Se. The show is produced by Siddarth Kumar Tewari’s Swastik Productions. The show stars Rahil Azam and Reena Kapoor in the lead. The show is about a widow named Bhavna who fears being alone. She has to start her life once again after her husband passes away and the plot revolves around how she handles life post the unfortunate event of her life.
Rahil Azam started his career as a model. Then he made his television debut in 2001 in the daily soap Ek Tukdaa Chaand Ka. Later, he appeared in episodic roles in the horror show Ssshhhh...Koi Hai and Achanak 37 Saal Baad.
In 2003, Azam played the lead in the adventure-fantasy drama series Hatim on Star Plus. Azam was featured as the male lead role of Ye Meri Life Hai. He was also a part of the shows Gulaal, Tu Aashiqui, and most recently, he was seen in Sony SAB’s Maddam Sir.
He is playing the lead of Raghav in Star Bharat’s recently launched show Dheere Dheere Se. The audience already loves him in the role and praises him for his performance.
Tellychakkar got in touch with the actor and got to know interesting insights about the show and his character in it.
What is your approach to a project or a character?
“For me, the project as a whole, how well it is doing or how well will it will do, those things are not in my or anyone’s hands. A bundle of promotions might also not help and at times, without promotions, the show could be a hit overnight. I don’t believe in ratings because the moment I like a character and I say yes to it, I very well know that this is not a typical daily soap of a character so this might not get me a lot of recognition or the ratings could not be as high as the other shows. I simply feel that the character is something that I have not done which would be in contrast to what I have done earlier. That is my concept when I am desperate to sign something, I feel the moment I start playing that character, and people should start relating me with that character.”
After doing such a variety of roles, do you still wish to explore something else?
“If I get a good mythological script, I’d love to do that. Apart from that, comedy is my strongest factor. But the kind of comedy I look for is a poker face. When you don’t need to smile and dance and deliver a line to make people laugh. That is something which is going to take a while to work on Indian TV.”
What do you do when you are not shooting?
“I am working on myself by watching good content. I am watching movies from every aspect, whether it is performance, direction, editing, background music, or anything. I watch any content, the storyline matters. But when that falls short, you have brilliant performances. When that too falls short, you get brilliant editing. I love to watch films at home on my projector because I am not much of a theatre person. I get very restless when I like a scene; I like to watch it again immediately. I am working in my way even when I am not shooting.”
