MUMBAI : Angel Investor Anupam Mittal, is a billionaire and entrepreneur and the founder of the matrimonial site Shaadi.com. He is well known for being one of the sharks on the Indian reality show, Shark Tank. He has amassed a great wealth over the years, which is reflected in his investing lifestyle. The businessman opened up about his initial struggle while starting his company. He said that he lost everything and had to start from the ground up.
In an interview with a media portal, Anupam Mittal talked about the luxurious lifestyle he lived in his 20s. He revealed that he would rent out cruise ships and stadiums for parties.

“Some of us kids got together and started a venture called Strategy.com, just before the dot com boom. And we became worth $40 billion. We were multi-millionaires in our early 20s, at least on paper. When we had money, we had a blast. We used to rent out entire football stadiums just for parties. We used to rent out cruise ships. Our company would be shut for a week, and we’d be chilling on three cruise ships. It was a different level.”
Speaking about his hard times he added, “But when the meltdown happened in 2000, jeb mein do kaudi nahi bachi.” His relatives had criticized him for losing everything. But Anupam was later able to earn it all back and enjoy the same financial highs as before.
Anupam Mittal was a Shark in the first season of Shark Tank India. He was part of the team of Sharks composed of Ashneer Grover, Ghazal Alagh, Peyush Bansal, Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, and Vinita Singh.
