Film Writers Association announces fourth Indian Screenwriters Conference

The Film Writers Association (FWA), that is the union for writers of TV and Bollywood is back with its most appreciated and grand event.

Announcing the fourth Indian Screenwriters Conference (ISC), the FWA has shared the details of the two day event that promises to focus on hot topics, fresh insights and riveting discussions with distinguished panelists from media and entertainment industry.

The event will be held on 3-4 August at St Andrews Auditorium, Bandra, Mumbai. The central theme for the year is ‘So near, so far: Do our stories reflect India’s reality?’, though other broader angles will also be focussed upon.

Talking about the same, Zama Habib, Joint Secretary FWA and Convener of the event shared, “This is the fourth year of ISC and it is going to be a grand scale event. The conference was planned a decade back to help the industry discuss the writing standards and also help each other evolve. We make a point to cover all areas and bring forward a common platform where everyone from the industry has a say. From producers, directors, writers and budding students will be attending the do. And interestingly looking forward to the trend we have also included web series as one of our session topics.”

The areas that will be discussed on the two day event are as follows:

Day 1:

Changing Gender Equation in Film? (Moderator: Sanyuktha Chawla Sheikh, Panelists: Himanshu Sharma, Sudip Sharma, Juhi Chaturvedi, Tushar Hiranandani)

Serial Killers (Moderator: Saurabh Tiwari , Panelists: Gaurav Banerjee (Star Plus), Anooj Kapur (SAB), Ravina Kohli (Epic), Danish Khan (Sony) Purnendu Shekhar, Ved Raj)

Writers & Producers… Partners or Adversaries (Moderator: Anjum Rajabali, Panelists: Siddharth Roy-Kapur (Disney), Ritesh Sidhwani, Ronnie Screwvala, Jaideep Sahni)

Day 2:

Little Big Films- Babies That Fight Their Way Out Into the World? (Moderator: Neeraj Ghaywan, Panelists: Rajat Kapoor, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Meghna Gulzar)

Decoding the Digital Platform (Moderator: Manisha Korde, Panelists: Biswapati Sarkar (TVF), Varun Grover (Aisi Taisi Democracy - a web series, Masaan) Satya Raghavan (Head of Content/YouTube) Chaitanya Chinchlikar (VP, Business development, Whistling Woods) Nikhil Taneja (creative producer Y-films))

The Business of TV Writing – Making Of the Writer (Moderator: Vinod Ranganath , Panelists: Jayesh Patil, Shashi Mittal, Aatish Kapadia, Sonali Jaffar, Farhan Salahruddin, Raghuveer Shekhawat)

Saurabh Tewari, Producer and moderator for one of the sessions said, “The objective of the conference is to create awareness among the industry about the stand of writing and the trends that will help us reach greater heights. This is the fourth year and we are expecting a great turn out. This is also the first time that broadcasters will be part of panel discussions giving us a deeper insight into what goes into making a successful show.”

Popular and renowned writer Raghuvir Shekhawat also averred, “The two day event with six amazing sessions is going to be one master class outing for all writers and show/film makers. Apart from the sessions, there is also a free discussion planned where one can resolve all their queries.”
