Fraudster using Rajan Shahi's name for casting caught by Delhi police, veteran producer issues a warning to aspiring newcomers

Rajan

MUMBAI: In a shocking event, the Delhi police have arrested two fraudsters, namely Tarun Shekhar Sharma and Asha Singh, who were running a fraud casting company and used the name of producer Rajan Shahi, who is known for giving superhit shows like Anupama and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai under his banner Director's Kut Productions, Shahi Productions Pvt Ltd, and iShahi Productions. The duo used Rajan Shahi and his daughter Ishika's pics and created fake WhatsApp accounts and Facebook handles to trap aspiring actors.

Rajan, who has time and again issued statements and shared posts against such frauds, shared a video post of the incident asking newcomers to be vigilant, especially when it comes to money.

In the video he said, "There is a lot of fraud in the name of our company. And I keep telling my teams through digital platforms and press releases to make people understand that in Director's Cut Production, Shahi Productions, and iShahi Productions, no money is taken. There have been so many cases for a long time, which we try to put on our website, that these are the people who are doing fraud. We have also put their numbers. In a recent case, someone used the false name of Star Plus and said that I am from Star Plus, who is doing Anupama's casting. We have a casting team, and we don't ask any casting director to cast in our place. If they ever say that, then they are people who have been working in the industry for many years, and that is very few. And you verify it. The aspiring actors who work so hard, and some people are scamming the actors who are in the industry by taking the names of Anupama and Yeh Rishta makers."

He continued, "Recently a person made a false Facebook account where there was a photograph of me and my daughter Ishika Shahi, and his name was Piyush Sharma. He was saying that my name is

Piyush Sharma. I don't know if it is true or not. He was scamming so many people day and night. We were aware of it, but he was not agreeing. And finally that person has been caught. The person who said the name of Piyush Sharma was caught using the name of Rajan Shahi, DKP, and Anupama."

The duo tricked a young aspiring actress for Rs. 24 lakh, and Rajan mentioned that if anyone is using their name and asking for money, a complaint should be filed to DKP through Google or the Director's Kut Production office should be called up.

He is disappointed that someone's hard-earned money was used for a fake casting. He said, "You work so hard for your hard-earned money that I feel so sad that you are being scammed. If you are ever scammed, unfortunately, you will have to go and complain yourself because I have directed so many cases to CINTAA. CINTAA has solved a lot of cases when people were doing frauds in the name of DKP, or you go to the police."

Rajan further shared that the casting for his shows is based on merit and said, "It is also based on the writers and creators, and then it is decided."

Lastly, he thanked the Delhi police authorities of Delhi for catching hold of the gang, with a warning to all aspirants, "Be aware."
