Veteran actor Ravi Baswani – who was co-incidentally always a part of shows and films that went on to achieve a cult status – is no more. He starred in the black comedy Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, the delightful Chashme Baddoor and other TV shows like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Idhar Udhar and Just Mohabbat. The 64-year-old died of a massive heart attack, last afternoon, in Haldwani, near Nainital. The actor was seen in 30 films and has several popular shows to his credit.
Friends pay a tribute. Says Rakesh Bedi, his co-actor from Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron and the popular sitcom , “Ravi was a good man. He worked on his terms. I remember he loved to impersonate Woody Allen and considered himself the Woody Allen of India. I believe his timing was as perfect as Allen’s. The popularity of Chashme Baddoor till date talks about the greatness of the man.”
Anupam Kher tweets, "Just got to know that Ravi Baswani passed away. How sad and terrible. Wonderful man, a gypsy by heart and always happy and helpful. RIP."
Raman Kumar adds, “I have worked with him for a show and have also done theatre with him. He was a pleasant, hasmukh man. When we used to get depressed we used to look at him for his positivity. I have never seen a man as positive as him."
RIP.
