Gaurav Chopra was to play lead in 10,000 BC

The handsome actor, Uttaran aired on Colors. Prior to this, he proved his mettle as an actor in shows like Left Right Left and Piya Ka Ghar; and he showcased his dancing prowess in Nach Baliye. And just like any other TV actor, he wishes to make it big in the Indian film industry. But before he does that, he has a tale to tell and that too about Hollywood. “I was actually going to play the main lead in 10,000 BC,” he reveals to Tellychakkar.com. So what went wrong you’d ask? The story goes like this. Incidentally, Gaurav was called for auditions of this movie. But after his blink-and-you-miss role in Leonardo DiCaprio starrer Blood Diamond, Gaurav was skeptical. It was a case of once bitten twice shy for this heartthrob. “I was being called for auditions overseas by the production house, but I didn’t want to get into the visa procedure without being sure about my role. After Blood Diamond, I was a bit doubtful,” he adds. Gaurav was told that he will have to give an audition, which meant that there were many other actors being considered for the role. But the truth was that only a handful names were in the race. “I came to know that quite later. However by that time, the harm was done,” Gaurav says. He was to play the role, which was eventually played by Steven Strait. (Though the handsome actor has done a good job, we think Gaurav Chopra too would have rocked) About his short role in Leonardo DiCaprio starrer Blood Diamond, the TV actor reveals: “I had shot for many scenes, but they were chopped at the editing table.” Gaurav, there’s a reason for everything that happens.
