It's a headline to mislead you into believing that there is a woman in Gaurav's life. On second thoughts, we are not going to mislead you totally: even though Gaurav is not overtly excited about his new film Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar (MP3); we are!
MP3 is all set to hit the movie halls by June eighth. Directed by Robby Grewal whose last venture was a brilliant attempt at success called Yahaan with Jimmy Shergill, however none of his films have really rocked the box office registers.MP3 is produced and promoted by Percept Picture Company, and spans from India to France traversing through Prague in Czech Republic and Paris. We deduced from the promos of the film that it will conclude some what like Sleepless in Seattle where Tom Hanks ends up confessing his love and proposes a relationship to Meg Ryan.
So where does Gaurav feature in the movie? Our friend essays the role of a struggling painter in Paris, Gaurav mouths, "Well, I play Sameer who is studying art in Paris and meets Rohan aka Ruslaan who is enroute to meet his girlfriend." The buzz is that his character in the film is similar to Nandu in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, how true is it?"As a painter I wear glasses and that look has stuck into people's memory with Nandu. Sameer is not like him at all, the character is small in screen space but I did it because it excited me."
Quizzing Gaurav on his enthusiasm about the film he retorts, "I am excited about it but I don't know what to expect. I shot for the film a year ago, so a year has passed. Frankly it's not that this is my talent testing movie or with it I am going to make my decision to quit TV and start a career in films."So he is excited but not dependant on the movie, "Yes, I will be very happy if it does well. I like doing interesting things, the genre doesn't matter to me: when I got a call for the role, I finalised it on the phone, I didn't even sit and read the script with the director; the script was emailed to me and that's it!"
Now doesn't Gaurav give spontaneity a new meaning? So how was his experience shooting with newcomers? "It was good, and cinema as a medium has a different pace, it was nice and laid back. Thanks to television experience, I had zilch problem with lines or delivering dialogues. It really is a bonus for TV actors as we are use to doing ten scenes a day and in a film they can barely manage two. TV teaches you a lot that way, every actor must experience both."
On that note, it dawned on me that the age of multi tasking has a creative upside as well and this is one good example to follow.
