MUMBAI: Actor Gulshan Nain, who was part of the series All About Section 377 says that the series has really changed the course of this career. The actor will also be part of the second season, whose promo released recently. ‘I am glad I am part of such a unique and amazingly written series, which shows the much important concerns related to the LGBT community and helps to create awareness amongst people in a very light-hearted manner. And thanks to this series, I also got nominated for the Best Actors Award in the prestigious NICE Film Festival. This series very special for me,’ he says.

He adds, ‘My character Suresh Chaudhary in the series is a homophobic guy who comes to Mumbai to become an actor and finds out that the cousin who he is supposed to stay with is gay. So this is a story about how a perception of a homophobic guy changes and how he sees their struggles in personal and professional lives. As the second season is the continuation of the first series, Suresh Chaudhary has matured and is in support of the LGBT community now. When he visits the village to help his brother getting his boyfriend back, he also meets a transgender, who is a talented writer. So, it’s their track where he becomes friends with him and tries to help him.’

Gulshan adds that the show has taught him a lot as well. ‘I did know that there are problems that are being faced by LGBT people, but I didn’t know to what the extent of those problems is. During the shoot, I got to know a lot of things. There is life imprisonment for loving someone if they are of the same gender. How can you impose your choices on someone like this! How can you take away those people’s freedom to choose their partners? I find it ridiculous, these are the very basic rights which have been taken away from the LGBT community,’ he says.

It seems like the audience too had been waiting for the second season to come out. ‘Actually, people have been waiting since a long time for it after watching the first season. We all have been getting messages regarding the release of the second season. We have released the trailer and the reactions are amazing,’ he says.

Meanwhile, Gulshan says he is always on the lookout for meaty roles. ‘In any creative field, all a person wants is creative satisfaction. So, I just want to act. I want a show in which there is a lot of scope for acting. I don’t mind playing even negative or grey shades. It’s just that the material should be there for me to act,’ he says.
